A lot of people see exercise as boring – something that must be done, like taking out the trash.
It’s too bad really because, thinking back, I can’t EVER remember having a boring workout.
I can’t ever remember not laughing at least once during my workouts.
Exercise should always be fun.
Usually it comes down to creating (I hate the word “programming” – sounds like computer nerd speak) a workout in a way so that there are some fun challenges within the workout.
Sure the workout should be tough.
But in a stimulating way.
I don’t know where the idea of “boring exercise” came from anyway.
Maybe it was the military or school.
Anyway, if you look at the picture above, you’ll see an example of how to
program create a workout for two or more people.
In the picture they are doing a partner exercise in which both ladies are busy.
One is holding the side plank position and the other looks to be rap a tap tapping on her partners palm (boxing).
That’s good stuff.
I’ve done this drill in my bootcamp. Hold the side plank for at least 30 seconds on each side and then switch positions.
Tip – make sure you do the boxing drill last. That way you’ll get the last lick in (depending on how well you were treated while in the plank position).
Think of other ways that you can make your workouts fun.
Make a bet with a friend, spouse, etc while exercising. Create games, challenges, get goofy.
Whatever engages you and helps you to power up and power through.
If done correctly, your workout should be one of the most enjoyable parts of your day.
